TV GUIDES

So much TV. So little time to watch. Here’s what you should be watching this month.

OUTLANDER (Starz)

Why: The romance! The drama! There are so many reasons! Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan have led us on this amazing journey for eight years. Their characters, Claire and Jamie, have a love story that has withstood the test of time…literally. Their love has survived a kidnapping, losing a child, being separated from each other for 20 years, and an illegitimate marriage, and it will continue to survive what is thrown at them in the seasons to come – because if being from two separate timelines can’t keep them apart – nothing will! This historical drama will tug at your heartstrings, especially after that season 6 ending. Don’t walk to the TV – run – this series is excellent, and season 7 will be well worth the wait.

When: Season 7 premieres June 16 on Starz.

JUSTIFIED: CITY PRIMEVAL (FX)

Why: The series is a continuation of one of our long-time favorites, Justified. It explores Raylan Givens’ new life in Detroit after he crosses paths with a violent sociopath – who is exceptionally skilled at evading the Detroit police department. Will the U.S. Marshal be able to stop him? What will he sacrifice? It is a western crime drama that includes Timothy Olyphant…what more can you ask for?

When: This summer on FX and streaming the next day on Hulu, but you can join us for the world premiere at ATX TV Festival on June 1st!

– jenn morgan, director of programming

MANIFEST (Netflix)

Why: It’s the final 10 episodes! Part 1 ended with the ultimate sacrifice (one that had us laying in a puddle of our own tears). Now, in part 2, our favorite passengers from Flight 828 will have to find a way to save all of the passengers before the impending “Death Date.” Every twist and turn gets bigger, better and CRAZIER. One question that we keep asking ourselves – will our favorite 828ers be able to save the passengers and have the happy ending we all want for them? We don’t know, but for now, we will sit back and enjoy this very fun (and sometimes BUMPY) ride as Manifest makes its final descent.

When: Season 4 Part 2 premieres June 2, 2023, but you can join us for a premiere screening at ATX TV Festival on June 1!

THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY (AMC & AMC+)

Why: It’s the long awaited spinoff of The Walking Dead that follows mortal enemies Maggie and Negan. During the season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead, Negan violently killed Maggie’s husband, creating a rift between them – until they were forced to call a truce in the final season. Now, the truce is ancient history, and they are at each other’s throats once again. Will they ever be able to move forward? Will Maggie ever be able to ever forgive him for killing Glenn? In our personal opinion…this is the team up we never knew we needed, and we just can’t get enough of it.

When & Where: The series premieres June 18, 2023 on AMC and AMC+.

FESTIVAL DISCOVERIES

Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, and now we pick up where we left off…with the ring! Who is it for? Will they say yes? So many questions that we will finally have answers to – hopefully – in exactly 23 days. Yes, we’re counting down the days because this series is that good. Season 2 premieres June 2, 2023 which means you’ll have exactly two days to watch (or rewatch) all 5 episodes on Amazon Prime, and then join us for a conversation about season 2 with cast member Emeraude Toubia (one-half of the leading ladies at Prime Video) at ATX TV Festival on June 4!

If you have never heard of or watched professional bull riding, saddle up – you’re in for a ride! The Ride is a Prime Video docuseries that delves into the world of professional bull riding where athletes and cowboys put their all into this sport. from

If you’re from a small town, you’ve probably had at least one terrifying nightmare where you get stuck in said town, and you are unable to leave. No? Is that just us? Well, for Harold Perrinueau’s character in the science fiction horror series, From, that is exactly what happens – except there are terrifying nocturnal creatures terrorizing and killing the town’s residents. This series is one that will have you clinging to the edge of your seat from start to finish. cruel summer

Season 2 is a brand new chapter – new faces, a new town, a new love triangle to both love and hate, and a new budding friendship. The trailer just dropped a few days ago, and yall – we are excited. We can’t tell you how long we’ve been waiting for season 2 and it’s finally (almost) here. We can’t wait – and if you can’t wait either, join us at ATX TV Festival for a screening with creatives & cast on June 2.

accused

An anthology crime series spearheaded by Howard Gordon (24, Homeland). It has so much going for it – including an all-star cast that consist of names like Malcom-Jamal Warner, Rachel Bilson, Rhea Perlman, Abigail Breslin and so many more! The courtroom stories are captivating and timely. This series does the most important thing a legal, crime procedural can do…it mirrors what is happening in the real world and sparks vital conversations. Binge (or rewatch) all 15 episodes on FOX and then join us at ATX TV Festival on June 2 for an inside look at Accused

IN THE QUEUE

A little something to look forward to.

the horror of dolores roach

Three words that sum up The Horror of Dolores Roach? Love. Betrayal. Cannibalism. The series has been described as a Sweeney Todd-inspired tale of eat or be eaten – and we. are. sold. It has many other things going for it – top of that list is Executive Producer (and ATX TV Festival Advisory Board member/festival favorite) Gloria Calderón Kellett and star Justina Machado. The Horror of Dolores Roach premieres July 7 on Prime Video, but if you’re intrigued and want to know more – you can join us at ATX TV Festival for a conversation with Justina Machado on June 4!
